Involving the Student Fraternity in its Centenary Celebrations through the ‘Tata Steel Centenary Inter-School Quiz’
Tata Steel creates opportunity for youngsters to prove their mettle in the battle of knowledge
To commemorate 100 years of its glorious existence, Tata Steel has planned a host of activities throughout the year. One of the key highlights is the Tata Steel Centenary Inter-School Quiz Competition that will travel across a number of towns and cities in India. The quiz will travel around in the cities of Ranchi, Raipur, Jamadoba, West Bokaro, Naomundi, Chennai, Tarapur, Kolkata, Haldia and Bangalore followed by the Grand Finale in Jamshedpur.
The Inter-School Centenary Quiz is being organized with the objective to promote the culture of quest for knowledge amongst students, enabling them to emerge as enriched, well-informed and global citizens. The top three winners of this Inter School Quiz contest from all centres will be called to Jamshedpur for the Grand finale. The mega Quiz is scheduled to take place later this year in the Steel City, Genesis Ground of Tata Steel. Everywhere, the Quiz will be conducted by the famous Quizmaster Mr. Giri Balasubramaniam a.k.a Pick brain, who is known for his unique quizzing skills and sense of humor. Through the Quiz Contest, Tata Steel wishes to provide to the an opportunity to showcase their mettle in the battle of knowledge.
All students in the age group of 13-18 years who possess the intellectual acumen are eligible to participate in the quiz. There is no entry fee. Each team would comprise two students from the same school. However, in Kolkata, the Quiz is open for children of employees of Tata Steel only. Promising to be a thrilling combination of knowledge and intellect, the quiz will cover a wide range of subjects like general awareness, sports, history, geography and science. Winners will be given cash prize. The first-prize winners would be awarded Rs. 2500/- each. The team in the second place would receive Rs, 1500 each and the participants in the third position would get Rs. 1000 each.

DAV Centenary Public School, Baniahir Wins the Quiz Contest on November 19, 2007
Anirban Dubey and Vikrant Kumar Vikram from DAV Centenary Public School, Baniahir won the Tata Steel Centenary Inter-School Quiz Contest that was held in Jamadoba on November 19, 2007. Carmel, Digwadih came second and Indian School of Learning, Jharia stood third.
The chief guest for the occasion was Mr. Chawala Diwaker, General Manager, Jharia division. The Jamadoba section of the Tata Steel saw in its preliminary round 50 teams of 2 students each from 7 schools.
Tata - DAV Public School, Noamundi Wins the Quiz Contest on November 23, 2007
A. Jagdish Rao and Subrata Mukherjee from Tata - DAV Public School, Noamundi won Tata Steel Centenary Inter-School Quiz Contest at Noamundi on November 23, 2007. Two teams that won the second and third prizes are also from Tata – DAV Public School. There were 42 participants in the preliminary round. The chief guest for the occasion was Mr. Shailesh Verma, Chief (Joda), Tata Steel.
Vidya Niketan Public School, Bangalore wins the quiz contest on December 02, 2007
Anirudh S and Ravi Shankar from Vidya Niketan Public School, Bangalore won Tata Steel Centenary Inter-School Quiz Contest that was held in Bangalore on December 02, 2007. Sri Kumaran Children’s Home came second and Vijaya Composite Pre University stood third. The preliminary round of the contest saw 233 participating teams.
The chief guest for the occasion was Mr. V N Subba Rao, Chairman – Karnataka Media Academy.
Tarapore Vidyamandir Junior College Wins the Quiz Contest on December 04, 2007
Participants Vaibhav Kotwal and Vikas Khinchi won the Tata Steel Centenary Inter-School Quiz contest from Tarapore Vidyamandir Junior College held in Tarapore on December 04, 2007. The second and the third positions were bagged by Atomic Energy Junior College. The chief guest for the occasion was Mr. Ashwini Kumar Mishra, Chief - CRP (West) Tarapore, Tata Steel. There were 45 teams participating in the preliminary round from four different schools.
Dav Public School, Chandrashekharpur Wins the Quiz Contest on December 10, 2007
DAV Public School, Chandrashekharpur, Bhubaneswar won the Tata Steel Centenary Inter-School Quiz Contest that was held in Bhubaneswar today. Sanjay Nanda and Shubhankar Mahapatra were the participants who belonged to the winning team. DAV Public School, Unit 8, Bhubaneswar bagged the second position and the third place was won by Buxi Jagbandhu English Medium School. The chief guest for the occasion was Mr. S K Mahapatra, CEO - Dhamra Port Company. Almost 100 teams participated in the preliminary rounds from across the state of Orissa.
St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School Wins Quiz Contest on January 07, 2008
St. Xaviers Higher Secondary School (Britto), Haldia won the Tata Steel Centenary Inter-School Quiz Contest held at Haldia on 7th January ‘08. Usnish Adhikari and Spandan Roy won the title. The second position was bagged by The Assembly of God Church School, Kolkata and the team that stood third was St Xaviers High School, Haldia. The preliminary rounds saw participation from 51 teams from Haldia and 5 teams from Kolkata.
