Exhibition Matches Mark the Celebration of the Centenary Year

Tata Steel’s initiative to mark 100 years

As part of the several initiatives undertaken by Tata Steel, two exhibition football matches between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal with Tata Football Academy (TFA) wrere organised at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur. Both Mohun Bagan and East Bengal are India’s premier football clubs.

The first match was played between Mohun Bagan and TFA on October 12, 2007 and the second between East Bengal and TFA on October 14, 2007. The exhibition matches were organized for the benefit of football lovers and to raise the level of game in the city. The city also responded in equal measure as citizens turned up in large numbers to witness the matches.

Sports is woven in to the very fabric of Tata Steel, and the Tata Football Academy, established in 1987, is a statement of the company’s commitment to sports and to also promote the game at the national level. The two exhibition matches organised on the occasion of the Company’s Centenary initiatives speak volumes of the encouragement given to sporting activities by Tata Steel.
