Mr B K Singh (Vice President, Orissa Project)

Mr Binay Kumar Singh graduated in Metallurgy from Nagpur University and then completed his post graduation in Process Metallurgy. He joined Tata Steel in the year 1970. Coke making has been Mr Singh’s passion and he has spent a long period of his career in the steel works in or around the coke plant. Mr Singh has been largely instrumental in setting up the one million tonne per year capacity coke oven complex with Stamp Charging facility with state of the art automation, thus re-defining the process of coke making. Extensively traveled abroad, Mr Singh has published a large number of technical papers, mostly in the field of coke making and stamp charging. He was awarded the ESSAR Gold Medal by the Indian Institute of Metals in the year 2002.

Mr Singh’s invaluable contribution in his specialised field of coke making saw him taking over as Managing Director of the new Joint Venture enterprise between Tata Steel and the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation - 'Hooghly Met Coke & Power Company Limited' – a recent addition to the Tata Steel Group.
