Mr H M Nerurkar joined Tata Steel in 1971 and has held various positions including Chief Metallurgist, Sr DM (LD-2 Projects), DGM (Steel & Primary Mills), General Manager (Marketing), Sr GM (Supply Chain), Vice President (Flat Products), Vice President (Kalinganagar Project, Orissa & Technology), and Chief Operating Officer (Steel), till he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Tata Steel Ltd. in November07.

He has over 35 years of experience in steel industry in various functions. He is the Chairman of Tata Martrade International Logistics Ltd., Tata Metaliks Ltd., Hooghly Met Coke & Power Co. Ltd., JAMIPOL Ltd., Vice Chairman of Tata Steel (Thailand) Public Co. Ltd., Bangkok and Director of ISL Dubai, NatSteel Asia Pte Ltd., Singapore, Tata BlueScope Steel Ltd. and Orissa Industrial Infrastructure Dev. Corpn.

He has officiated in several positions and has been actively associated with various academic and professional bodies and clubs in different capacities like Indian Institute of Metals, ULSAC / ULSAS / ULSAB of IISI Brussels, INSDAG, AIMA Governing Council, XIM, Bhubaneshwar Governing Council, Institute of Environmental. Management Studies, CII Orissa Chapter, Tata Steel Rural Development Society, Jamshedpur Kennel Club, Indian Cancer Society, Jamshedpur Branch. His love and care for nature and fellow beings reflects from his active involvement in the associations despite his busy schedules and demanding work pressure.

During his illustrious career, Mr Nerurkar has been conferred upon with several prestigious awards such as the ‘Tata Gold Medal 2004’, ‘SMS Demag Excellence Award 2002’, Steel 80s Award – 1990’, ‘SAIL Gold Medal – 1989’ Visveswaraya Award – 1988’ and ‘NMD Award 1987’.

He is an executive with multifaceted experience ranging from project execution, manufacturing, Quality Control, Supply Chain, Marketing and is now in the senior management of Tata Steel. His motivational leadership is unique and beyond compare. He instills confidence in his subordinates and mentors and coaches them to reach excellence. He has a natural flair for nurturing and cultivating innovation and out of box thinking. His business acumen in identifying new business opportunities for accelerated growth is commendable.
