Mr Partha Sengupta was born on 1st December, 1957 and is a B. Tech in Metallurgy from Institute of Technology, BHU. He began his career with Tata Steel in 1980, as a Graduate Trainee. He was appointed as Assistant Divisional Manager in Marketing in 1991, and was elevated to the position of Deputy Marketing Manager in 1993. Mr Sengupta continued to rise steadily in his career; being promoted to Commercial Manager, MD's Office, Kolkata in 1995, as Senior Divisional Manager of Customer Order Fulfillment Department in 1997, and as Assistant General Manager in 2000. Subsequently, he was appointed Chief, Customer Service Division and in 2002, deputed to Tata Special Steel Ltd. In 2003, he was appointed Executive-In-Charge (Wire Division), Mumbai. In April 2005, he took the position of Principal Executive Officer in the MD's Office, and in 2006 he was given the additional responsibility of leading the Jharkhand Steel Project as the Principal Executive Officer and Chief, Jharkhand Steel Project.

Mr Sengupta is currently Vice-President (Corporate Services), while at the same time, he continues to be in charge of the Jharkhand Steel Project.
