Mr. Ram Prit Singh was born on 25th July 1944. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bihar.
Mr. Singh is currently Vice President (Engineering & Projects) at Tata Steel and is responsible for managing the execution of all capital projects for Tata Steel at Jamshedpur.
He has extensive experience in the Steel Industry having worked earlier with Steel Authority of India Ltd., and RINL. He was also responsible for implementing 3.0 MT integrated Steel Plant Project at RINL. Mr. Singh's ability in Project execution was witnessed in his managing the total execution of the 1.2 MTPA Cold Rolling Mill project at Tata Steel in record time of 26 months.
He is presently engaged in enhancing the steel capacity from 5.00 MTPA to 10.00 MTPA through addition of new facilities such as a Blast furnace of 3800 Cu mtrs, a Sinter plant, a Thin slab caster, a new LD shop and a Pelletising Plant. Mr. Singh's experience in Steel industry relates to Operation, Designing and Engineering, Procurement, Contracting, Construction, Commissioning, and Stabilisation of operations of integrated Steel Plant. He also has vast experience in rebuilding and up-gradation of old Blast Furnaces and LD Shops.
He is associated in a number of organisations at Tata Steel as well as occupies responsible position of Director on the Board of TRF Limited, Tata Consulting Engineers and Stewarts & Lloyds. Mr. Singh has to his credit a large number of publications in Journals and Magazines the most significant of these being 'The Cold Rolling Mill of Tata Steel at Jamshedpur - an experiment with excellence' a paper published in Iron & Steel Review of July 2000. Some of the awards that have been conferred on Mr. R P Singh are the MECON AWARD for the 'Best Project Manager' in the year 2000 and Dr. Davidson Frame Award for 'Excellence in Project Leadership' in December 2003.
